Blackboard Navigation

USERNAME
Your username = your D'Youville College Student ID# [same as STACI username (6-digit number)]. (Note: Also found on the back of your DYC student ID - please omit the first and last digits of the 8-digit number).

PASSWORD
After the first time you access your account, you can change your password by going to STUDENT TOOLS >>> Change Your Information >>> Change Password (click on Update Password)

After you log onto Blackboard, you will land on your personal Blackboard page. CLICK on the NAME OF THE COURSE located on the right side of your screen under MY COURSES.

E-MAIL
You can access your classmates and course instructors via e-mail within this course by clicking on the Communication Button on your front course page and then Send e-mail. You can change your e-mail address by going to STUDENT TOOLS >>> Change Your Information >>> Account Information (click on Update User Information)
Please note: it is not possible to send Attachments using Blackboard. To send a file to an instructor submit it using the Student Drop Box.

STUDENT DROP BOX
This is a method of submitting documents to your instructor.
It is located under STUDENT TOOLS and then click on STUDENT DROPBOX.
You will need to "browse" for the file you want to upload and click OPEN.
Give the file a name under "Name of link to file."
Click on the button "send file to instructor."
Wait to see confirmation message "file successfully uploaded" (at the top of the screen)
It will state the size of the file and the date it was uploaded to Blackboard.

DISCUSSION BOARD
Each topic is listed under its own "forum". Click on the forum link to access the first "thread" which will be the actual posted document
Click on the posted document thread and then at the bottom of that file YOU click on the "reply" button to post your response.
You will not be able to post "attachments" on the discussion board. Therefore...you may type up your responses in a separate word processing file but then you will just need to copy and paste it into your "reply" area.
When your assignment becomes providing peer feedback then you will initiate this by clicking onto that thread and clicking on the "reply" button at the bottom of that page.
It is possible to reply to other students' work as well as the original posted document.
